Mary Quade is the author of Guide to Native Beasts (Cleveland State University Poetry Center) and Local Extinctions (Gold Wake).

A graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, she is the recipient of an Oregon Literary Fellowship and three Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards for both poetry and creative nonfiction.

Before moving to Ohio, she taught high school English and photography in Oregon. Since 2002, she has lived in northeast Ohio on the last few acres of a former dairy farm with her husband, Cris Harris.

She is an associate professor of English at Hiram College in Ohio, where she teaches creative writing.
